The kākāpō (Māori: [kaːkaːpɔː]; pl.: kākāpō; Strigops habroptilus), sometimes known as the owl parrot or owl-faced parrot, is a species of large, nocturnal, ground-dwelling parrot of the superfamily Strigopoidea. It is endemic to New Zealand.
