The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these mechanics, to realise that they're not just challenging- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Persona 3's tactics truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the thrill when Yukari actually hits a target, which itself is a reference to how struggling builds character.
