エーリダノスはギリシャ神話の川で、太陽神の息子パエトーンが戦車をこいで天を焦がした結果、ゼウスに雷で打ち落とされ、この川に墜落したんだよ。パエトーンの姉妹たちは悲しみでポプラの木に変わり、涙は琥珀に✨。
また、ヒュギーヌスの話では、パエトーンが高さに恐れ、川に落ちたとされるんだって。ゼウスは火を消すふりをして洪水を起こし、人類をほぼ滅ぼしたそう。
