To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Persona 3's tactics. The controls are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of common sense, it will go over a typical gamer's head. There's also Mitsuru's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into her characterisation- her constant spamming of Marin Karin, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these mechanics, to realise that they're not just challenging- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Persona 3's tactics truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the thrill when Yukari actually hits a target, which itself is a reference to how struggling builds character. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Katsura Hashino's genius wit unfolds itself on their gaming screens.
